Otamot makes tasty healthy organic tomato sauces that are USDA Organic Certified, NonGMO and Gluten-Free. The key difference in Otamot’s sauces is their plant based innovative recipe that provides balanced vitamins and nutrients for a hearty and healthy tomato sauce option.
The Challenge
Otamot is available at top retailers like Wholefoods, Sprouts, and Wegmans. When Otamot approached us their online presence did not showcase the quality of their products and the health benefits from the vitamins and nutrients in their sauces. There was also no way for loyal customers to get a regular supply of their favorite healthy tomato sauce.
The Solution
The Built By Blank team custom designed a product forward website. By keeping the focus purely on the product, the team was able to invoke an experience for the customer of making the right choice by picking Otamot.
Selecting a Platform
We evaluated multiple eCommerce platforms for Otamot, while considering the Otamot team’s pain points. The workflow analysis resulted in picking Shopify as the platform of choice. The Shopify platform’s excellent loading speed and powerful marketing tools gave it an edge over other eCommerce platforms.

Respecting Customer’s Choices – Subscription Program
Otamot has a subscription plan which allows customers to receive Otamot products weekly or monthly, depending on their preferences. We implemented a customizable subscription feature on the website. This feature allows users to choose their product type and frequency. Payments are charged automatically before each delivery period selected by the customer.
In-Store Coupon
We implemented an engaging user experience for customers to “clip coupons” for use in physical stores, integrating the grocery store experience into the website.
Feedback Matters – Reviews
The Otamot Foods eCommerce site has reviews from respected Television channels and Digital Media Companies. This section allows customers to analyze and review the products before purchasing them. The reviews are also integrated with YouTube clips to provide a visual experience. There are options for customers to leave their own reviews as well on the Product Detail Pages, adding credibility to the product.
Word of Mouth matters – SauceBoss Ambassador Program
Since Otamot has a loyal and dedicated customer base, we incorporated the “SauceBoss” Ambassador program for passionate customers to help spread the word for Otamot perks, rewards, and points.
Blog to maintain market strategy
We implemented a blog for Otamot, providing relevant and helpful content to target audiences and driving traffic to their website. We created a user-friendly back-end to help the Otamot team easily manage content on the blog.
Stockists locator based on Google Maps
We also incorporated a store locator into the Otamot Foods site, complete with google maps integration. So now, finding the nearest store selling Otamot sauces is easy.
Press section
We also included a press section in the website. This section contains news about events and other Press mentions about the Otamot brand. The idea behind this section was to allow users to familiarise themselves with the brand and stay up to date with the latest happenings.
Customized Emails and Newsletters
We built features to allow customers to sign up for newsletters. This lets users get frequent updates and email links to download the new Otamot recipe book featuring quick and easy family meals; while providing email capture to increase Otamot’s email database.
With the release of the online store from Built By Blank, Otamot was able to strengthen relationships with their retailers and suppliers as well as create a more engaging experience with the end customer. This higher engagement from all distribution channels led to an enormous increase in sales.
