Chiropedic is an Australian mattress manufacturer that specialises in customised mattresses, pillows and accessories. Chiropedic focuses on customisation, offering a range of different & specialised mattresses. As shopping online for mattresses became more common, the company needed a new site. Subsequently, they hired Convert Digital to design a new eCommerce site and also hired Built By Blank to develop the site on BigCommerce.
BigCommerce – Selecting a platform
We evaluated BigCommerce and Shopify for this website as these were the two platforms the Chiropedic team was comfortable with. While Shopify is much more popular, BigCommerce offers a slew of in built features not available in Shopify. Additionally, BigCommerce is more scalable as it does not need you to frequently upgrade plans as your business grows. The features included in BigCommerce are often more inclusive and flexible than Shopify features. BigCommerce also tends to be more cost effective and offers these features at a lower price while Shopify relies heavily on feature rich apps that cost extra. Most importantly, the Chiropedic team was very familiar with BigCommerce and knew how to use the back end. Therefore we chose BigCommerce to build the Chiropedic site.
BigCommerce – Features
Mega Menu
A mega menu is a menu that covers the entire screen. We created a custom Mega Menu to show all the different categories of products on the site at one time.
Store Locations
Additionally, we also made a store locations page for users who like to buy their mattresses offline after testing them at the store.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
We made sure that the Chiropedic site fulfilled all criteria to make it rank high on Google search results. We organised site data using correctly labelled headers and we inserted appropriate key-phrases. Additionally, we went through all requirements in our SEO cheklist, from optimised and labelled images to appropriate URLs. This drove up the Chiropedic search ranking.
Mini Cart
Also, we added a Mini Cart to the site. So users can easily view their selected items without navigating to another page.
Product Details
A mattress is an expensive item that is bought after due consideration. It is not an impulse buy. Therefore, it is important to show all product details to let the user make an informed buying decision. We created a product details page that allows you to inspect product images by zooming into them. Also, the page has the exact specifications of the mattress along with required product certifications.
Cross Selling
Users buying a mattress are also likely to buy pillows, bed sheets etc. We added a cross selling section to each product page. So, as the user scrolls down on the page they can see related product that they might also want to buy.
Live Chat
The Built team integrated a live chat pop up on the site. The live chat button is always visible on the site, no matter what page you are on. Consequently, it is very easy for any user to start a live chat and resolve any problems they have with their purchase.
The new Chiropedic website was user friendly and connected well with both, customers and the Chiropedic team. It allowed the Chiropoedic team to easily update the content and products on site. At the same time it made the buying experience easy to navigate. Consequently, the company grew its reach and its sales revenue as well.
